Budget Season for Stamford Public Schools - Act Now

It's budget time for the 2024-2025 school year. Here's a quick summary on the budget process:

  1. The superintendent proposes a budget. (Jan)
  2. The Board of Education (BOE) reviews it: they may cut or add. (Feb)
  3. Approved budget goes to Stamford's Board of Finance and Board of Representatives; historically they cut the budget. (Mar-Apr)
  4. If cuts happen, the BOE will adjust the budget, deciding what gets cut. (May)

Potential cuts include:

  • Staff: Kindergarten para-educators, security, office support, parent facilitators
  • Programs: Elementary school music, high school IB and other specialty programs

Want to help? Speak up for the full budget.

Your voice can influence decisions. We'll share an email template and dates of public meetings soon.

Why it matters: This is about ensuring quality education. Every voice counts.
