WHO WE ARE:

We are a diverse group of PARENTS, STUDENTS, TEACHERS and ADMINISTRATORS who work together to promote diversity, equity and inclusion at Strawberry Hill.

WHAT WE DO:

Act as a humble LEARNING COMMUNITY that does not have all the answers and is WELCOMING TO ALL with the goal of EDUCATING ourselves and others about EQUITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION for all facets of IDENTITY. Race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, differing abilities and more.
Create a SAFE PLACE for all to ask questions and explore new ideas.
DE-STIGMATIZE having difficult or uncomfortable conversations.
Help all learn EMPATHY & COMPASSION through peoples stories.
Share REPRESENTATIVE materials from all types of identities
PROMOTE international mindness from IB philosophy.

WHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED:

Sept 2021-23: Hosted three book discussions with staff, parents and students

FEB 2022/23: Created a Black History Month Program which included a website which featured slide shows and videos of student discussing the heroes they researched; BHM apparel which helped fundraise for the PTO, and a black musician showcase.

MARCH 2022: Presentation by Inclusion Expert Connie Palmer: “TALKING TO YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT DIFFERENCES AND INCLUSION.

Spring 2022: Buddy Program Created:

6th graders were educated about diversity and inclusion and then paired with students from our CORE Classroom to spend time and do activities. Many special friendships were formed!

May 2022/23: Created the "Voices of Strawberry Hill" 5th and 6th grade event where children presented their CREATIVE WORKS focusing on IDENTITY
